About Us

Walpoles have now been established for more than 30 years. We were first in business on Church Street, Marylebone, but by the end of the 1980s the business had moved to 187 Westbourne Grove and we dealt from this parade until the turn of the century. Although there are no longer any Antique shops on Westbourne Grove, Walpoles maintain a presence in the area, being open for business every Saturday at 107 Portobello Road between the hours of 7 am and 4 pm. Almost any item found on this website can be taken to the arcade by prior arrangement.

For almost as many years as we have traded we have exhibited at the Olympia International Art & Antiques Fair, next year running from 4th -14th June.

You will find this website updated regularly and if your interest is in a particular discipline you may well choose to "Search Inventory". However, the site is also divided into three themes. "The Army" encompasses colonial furniture and works of art, folk art of the British soldier as well as campaign furniture, pictures and objects of a military theme.
"The Navy" similarly covers fine and folk art associated with the British Royal and Merchant Navy fleets as well as fine art and objects that fall under a title of China Trade. Finally, there is an established core of furniture, pictures and works of art typical of "The English Country House".

Everything in this collection forms a part in our "For Hire" inventory and we are happy to advise on the suitability and authenticity of items for period settings.
