A small dog's collar, brass with a steel eye for a leash or lock, a decorative punch used to form the folded edge and engraved with the owner's name and address; 'Ja(s) Shell. Kingsdown'. English circa 1840.

Few cottages were named in Kingsdown before the 1880s. As with the engraving to this collar, the cottage would be referred to by the name of the occupier and the address as Kingsdown.

The place is close to Box, made famous by Brunel's two mile long tunnel and is close to the city of Bath.
