Cast Brass Skimmer

An English cast brass skimmer with which "cooks take away all the filth and scume from off a boiling pott the liquor runing throw the holes, and the dreggs remaineing on the scummer". This example with a good maker's mark, conjoined 'WD'. Made similar throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, this example thought to date to around 1750.
