A fine, smart, Regency writing slope, made for travelling and on military campaign.
Rosewood, heavily bound in brass to all edges, the top lifting to a lecturn, the detachable ledge stowed away within the same lid. A single drawer running the entire width of the box and secured with a brass pin from within. Beneath the base section writing slope is concealed three tiny drawers behind a cover released by a button hidden to the side of a compartment. Original tooled leather writing surface, the inset plate to the top engraved in gothic script 'WEG', the lock 'Tompson Patent', Birmingham, GR.
